Obligatory Yom Kippur Post

In the spirit of the Day of Atonement, let’s run down a lengthy list of draft transgressions.

2009: Missed Brandon Jennings, Ty Lawson, and Darren Collison
2008: Chicago selects Omer Asik with the Knicks’ pick.
2007: Chicago selects Joakim Noah with the Knicks’ pick. Missed Aaron Brooks.
2006: Chicago selects LaMarcus Aldridge with the Knicks’ pick. Missed Rajon Rondo, Kyle Lowry, and Paul Millsap –– for Renaldo Balkman.
2005: Missed Andrew Bynum, Danny Granger, Amir Johnson, and Marcin Gortat.
2004: Simply too much fail.
2003: Missed David West, Josh Howard, and Mo Williams. They also passed on Mikael Pietrus, Nick Collison, Luke Ridnour, Boris Diaw, Travis Outlaw, Kendrick Perkins, Leandro Barbosa, and Kyle Korver. Any one of those would be better than Michael Sweetney and Maciej Lampe, combined.
2002: The two draftees? Frank Williams and Milos Vujanic. Instead of John Salmons or Carlos Boozer.
2001: Could have selected Zach Randolph, Brendan Haywood, Gerald Wallace, Samuel Dalembert, Jamaal Tinsley, Tony Parker, Gilbert Arenas, or Mehmet Okur. Problem was, their first round picks were in Houston and Memphis.
2000: Missed DeShawn Stevenson — at least he’s not Donnell Harvey — and Michael Redd.
1999: Missed Ron Artest, Andrei Kirilenko, and Manu Ginobili.
1996: Missed Big Z and Derek Fisher.

We’ve been fasting since 2000 — I think some playoff wins are due.
